Painless Dentistry

Many parents are apprehensive about sending their children to the dentist because they are concerned about pain management. This is unnecessary. Parents who have had unpleasant dental experiences sometimes pass on their negative feelings to their children, making them scared of the dentist. Nobody wants to be in this scenario!

Our Approach

Dentists strive to give a stress-free, pain-free dental experience for all of our young patients so that they will return because they enjoy themselves in our office. This includes, where appropriate, pain management for dental procedures to make your child comfortable and relaxed.

Here's a rundown of the most frequently asked questions, along with our responses. Call your dentist if you need additional information or have other concerns about paediatric pain management during dental procedures.

Why is it necessary to sedate my child?

Some children require dental treatment, but they may be too terrified to comply fully during the process. Sedation makes it easier for us to treat your child and allows them to have a more secure and peaceful experience.

So, what exactly is sedation dentistry?

The use of anaesthetic medications to keep a patient relaxed, comfortable, and free of pain or discomfort is known as sedation dentistry. With children, we frequently utilise conscious sedation, which allows them to enter a state of deep relaxation while breathing independently. They can speak and reply to queries and commands.

For children, what kind of sedative is used?

Because it is a safe and effective technique to reduce your child's worries during a dental procedure, most dentists employ nitrous oxide/oxygen, a type of conscious sedation also known as laughing gas.

Is it secure?

For one thing, if it wasn't safe, your dentist wouldn't use it! It's actually been used for a long time because it's the safest dental sedative available, especially for children. Your child will notice a lovely odour and will feel calm and at ease.

Are there any negative consequences?

Nitrous oxide/oxygen is generally non-addictive and has few negative effects. Your child should not eat anything heavy before coming in for the appointment because a full stomach can make a youngster feel nauseous or make them vomit. A youngster may become constipated after receiving nitrous oxide/oxygen every now and then.

What is my child's reaction to the procedure?

The nitrous is turned off after the treatment, but the oxygen is kept on to flush out any remaining gas in your child's system. Within 10 minutes, your child should feel completely normal and should be able to leave our office feeling great!
